Edupunk , Star Trek Style

What can I say? I grew up watching reruns of the original Star Trek, and have watched a decent chunk of most through the latest Star Trek Show. I'm also a Star Wars fan, but that's likely to be a post to come. For now I'd like to share the scenario that popped into my head.

Kirk: "Phasers, set on deep fried, in, bacon grease. Fire!"

Bzzzzt!

Spock: "Excellent choice captain. The bacon renderings have added flavor and a smokiness to these otherwise dry reports."

Scotty: "Great Scot! That was sarcasm out of a vulcan!"

Call it what you want, but I think that sums up a fair amount of what's going on. Lots of us are not so happy with education and doing like Captain Kirk was so well know for, doing what he thought was needed when the rules were pointless and counter productive.

Then we have the Spocks, logical and intelligent, who are willing to way in with a sense of humor. That sense of humor is what separates them from the guys back at Star Fleet who are going to have plenty of words with Kirk. Of course later there will be a discussion about the costs of Kirk's actions, but both Spock and Kirk know the costs and intend to continue. They've had many of these little discussions over the years.

Scotty is a stunned observer watching the intellectuals go along with the "crazy" actions of Kirk. Post after post have been seen on blogs saying just this point of view.

There, a suitably official reason to have shared that silly little scene. Be great to have a comic strip of that, but I'll leace that to somebody else. Maybe they will come up with a line for poor Bones who was left out of the fun.

Have fun, spread the word and tell me what you think,
Igen Oukan
