Too Serious?

I just wrote a comment for a comment contest, where the winner gets a game, at GameProducer.Net and realized that I wasn't taking my self very seriously. Thinking back I normally enjoyed and worked harder when those I dealt with did the same. Exceptions came when there was a deadline and similar, but comedic relief still helped.

While some games are called serious, they don't all need to be serious nor do those making them. The same goes with educational efforts. Work hard, play hard and sleep well.

Be Wiling to be Wrong

Be Willing to Laugh at Yourself

Be Willing to be Quiet

These three things will serve you well in most aspects of life. More than just making games or in education, these things help with interpersonal situations and problem solving.

If You Are Wrong

When you are wiling to be wrong you don't slow down the group like if you refuse to be wrong. That doesn't mean you should just row over when challenged. Make sure that what you go with is the best you can find, all things considered.

If You Mess Up

When you are wiling to laugh at yourself you can fix your mistakes and look better for it. People prefer to deal with those whose egos are under control and make hard times easier to deal with. Have fun with life regardless of the situation, but make sure to give it your all.

If You Know Nothing

When you stay quiet you can observe. Sometimes that is more valuable than a green point of view. What would the unlearned think about certain results? What would the customer think about those results? What needs to be explained for the doers to be able to do their jobs? Sometimes keeping quiet will be the best thing you can do while those who know what they're talking about discuss the options. You might see something they don't because you are sitting back and observing quietly.

That's not everything, but it's a good start.

Have fun, spread the word and tell me what you think,
